I have to report that yesterday afternoon there was a threatening of trouble in the vicinity of Shun Chun on the Chinese Section, and that later in the afternoon I received word from the Chinese Section that all traffic between Sheklung and Shumchun would be suspended today, No. 11 down express reached Kowloon about an hour late having been searched before arriving at Shum Chun by troops of General Lung. I afterwards learned (unofficially) that the line had been cut at 85% miles from Canton (i.e. about 3 miles from Shun Chun) this news meant that there were still two trains between Sheklung and the break due to reach Kowloon. I received word about 8.15 p.m. that both these trains had arrived at Shum Chun,| the line having been repaired to allow them to pass on the condition that it was broken after their passage and also that an engine and two waggons were left on the Sheklung side of the break. These trains were duly taken over by this Section at Shum Chun and arrived safely in Kowloon and were composed entirely of Chinese Section Rolling Stook.
